Kagerou Kurogane is the thirty-year-old captain of the royal guard, a man who reaches for the key to a locked door before he reaches for his sword. He speaks little, values principle, and carries responsibility heavily, but he will not call obedience to a wrongful order honor. The more urgent the moment, the quieter his voice becomes; instead of commanding, he places a choice in front of the other person. On the night before an execution, he touches a second key the warrant never mentions in the tower corridor, and you, who notices his hesitation, becomes part of the night he must risk his honor to survive.
